WILD MAGIC | Painting symbolic animals with Kara Timmons

Class Description: Join us for a full-day acrylic painting class to create a narrative piece using nature symbolism as inspiration. We’ll explore a classical technique of monochromatic underpainting and glazing to help bring depth and subtlety to your work.
Beginner/Intermediate; perfect for artists looking to grow their practice.
Some drawing and painting experience helps, but is not necessary!
Topics Covered:
1) Create a sketch or collage from reference images and imagination. Transfer this to a panel for painting.
2). Monochromatic underpainting.
3). Glazing and detailing.
Materials Provided:
Vine charcoal and kneaded erasers
Spray fixative
Glazing medium and paints
Some communal brushes and palettes available
Rags
Recommended Materials:
Canvas or panel, pre-primed with Gesso. (8×10 or 11 x 14 recommended)
Palette - plastic palette with wells, or a sta-wet palette (recommended)
Brushes (Some provided as well) - Recommend a variety of filberts, flats and rounds (medium to small)
Any personal acrylic paints or supplies you’d like!
