Exploring Watercolor - The first of a series of classes with ands-on instruction, demonstration of basic techniques, and critique with professional artist Monica Alfonso.

Ages: 18+

Class Description: Hands-on instruction, demonstration of basic techniques, and critique. Monica Alfonso will lead the class in color mixing exercises, learning about watercolor as it relates to color theory, beginning object studies, and building on basic techniques with each class, eventually working toward more finished pieces based on the student’s interests and aesthetic. Alfonso will work with each student at their own pace toward the student’s individual goals while encouraging the development of skills and self-expression.

About the Instructor

Monica Alfonso is a practicing artist based in Austin, TX, focusing primarily on drawing and painting. Monica received her BFA in studio art with a concentration in painting from UT Austin and her MFA in painting from Syracuse University. She has taught at Texas State University, UTSA, and is currently an instructor at Austin Community College. Monica has been teaching drawing, painting, and art appreciation classes since 2006.
