Through the Halo: The Return Home - Robyn Chance Solo Show

  • ArtUs Co 10000 Research Blvd. Suite 141 Austin, TX, 78759 United States (map)

Blending mysticism, emotional alchemy, and radiant imagination, Robyn Chance’s work invites viewers into a world where inner transformation becomes visible through color, symbolism, and expressive form. Drawing inspiration from a profound near-death experience and years immersed in the worlds of painting, dance, and storytelling, her paintings explore the space between the earthly and the eternal, illuminating the beauty that can emerge from chaos, healing, and self-remembrance.

From the artist:

Through the Halo: The Return Home is deeply personal to me. To me, the halo represents many things. It’s where spirit touches the body, but it’s also the tunnel we move through when life stretches us open. Grief, uncertainty, heartbreak, joy, change, becoming… all of it. The only way through it is through it. We cannot heal what we refuse to sit beside. We cannot arrive somewhere new while standing outside of our own experience. So this body of work is an invitation into presence. Into staying with all of our facets and dripping colors long enough to realize that even in the messy darkness there are little stars asking us to keep going. The last few years stretched me in ways I never expected, but somewhere along the way while returning home to Austin, I began realizing I wasn’t walking alone. Now I find myself surrounded by incredible soul family. I get to wake up and create for this magical niche collective that I love so much, and I don’t take that privilege or my path lightly (but i will crack jokes in 10 different voices just to cheer myself along the way.) Some of these paintings began as long as thirteen years ago and waited patiently for me while I was away in Hawai’i. Returning to them felt like returning to pieces of myself that had been waiting to come back online. Some have been given new life, and some are entirely new works being shown for the first time. I’m deeply honored to share all my drippy, messy, sparkly, dream catching colors with you!

Celebrate an evening of art, connection, and inspiration as we journey through the halo together.

Meet Robyn

Robyn Chance, a visionary artist and multi-faceted "Priestess of the heARTs," embodies the essence of creative exploration and connecting worlds of mixed consciousness. Like her diverse heritage of European-American, Native American, and Hebrew ancestry, Robyn's creative world also bridges art forms and cultures, while offering captivating insight to the eternal in an inspiring way. Serving over twenty years professionally as a visionary painter, as a technical & connected dancer, as a soulful writer, and a masterful channel of the expressive and decorative arts, she offers her family of art collectors a daily, digestible reminder of their inherant power.

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Robyn’s birth into the Chance family set the stage for an extraordinary opportunity of transformation. Growing up in the Chance’s legacy to the Oilfield Industry and Commercial Cattle Ranching, she was also influenced by her mother’s sharp wit and bikini competitions and her father’s comic book store. Robyn experienced the juxtaposition of the supernatural, the glamourous, the humorous, a ranch and city lifestyle, infusing every moment of childhood with curiosity for the rich layers of southern social culture.

From an early age, Robyn's creativity bloomed as she filled construction paper with written stories and vibrant illustrations, while orchestrating performances and communities in the trees with her dolls. Embarking on a rapid ascent in her young adulthood, she thrived in modeling, creative direction, lead music video roles, and a sensational National Bachata performance & instruction tour. These experiences would all prepare her for what she would later accomplish in her creative life.

Drawing inspiration from her profound Near-Death Experience (she was accidentally over-anesthetized and flat-lined) in 2006, Robyn began weaving Eternal Life and esoteric wisdom into her artwork, crafting a symbolic message that “its safe to feel”, to calm the nervous system and offer a wink of sparkle to the darker corners of the subconscious mind. Her “NDE” ignited a transcendent fire that eventually guided her flight path to the Big Island of Hawai'i, where she has called home for over a decade. Now splitting her time between the serene shores of Hawai'i and the bustling energy of Austin, Texas, Robyn has forged a profound immersion between the two lands and communities that hold her heart.

Her Aloha-Inspired works enchant the eye with whimsical colors blended into eyes, skin, hair and foliage, and places you’d never think a particular color would fit; she rebelliously shines more light upon the human spectrum of perception.  You’ll almost always find a twinkle in the shadows of her work. With unwavering dedication and an indomitable spirit, she illuminates the path into the unknown for others to arouse their unique divinity, to rise from the ashes of unworthiness and embrace the limitless possibilities and logical importance of living a self-aware, expressive and colorful life.

“In the heights and depths of my being, I am the expression of both the artist and the muse, the rainbow bridge illuminating the path between these seeming opposite archetypes. May my art serve as a beacon of inspiration, guiding us all to celebrate the colors of our individuality while holding hands in the unified, nourishing power of love. Our inner and outer world are One, Our Creator and we, the Created, are One.. in that knowing, we awaken to the empowerment of choice as Co-Creators, and intentionally choose and attune our perceptions and actions from the highest love, and from the deepest empathy in service to the whole. I can’t help but paint these codes and I want to decorate everything from water bottles and cell phones to homes and cities with them!” ~ Robyn
