Grief Sound Ceremony (In Honor of Dia De Los Muertos)
Thursday, Oct 29, 7 - 8:30 PM
Grief is an experience we all share, but we rarely process our grief in a way that is supportive to the healing process. This gathering offers a unique opportunity to honor lost loved ones in community amidst the backdrop of indigenous art of the Americas and the deep vibrational resonance of the gong.
Guests are invited to arrive in reverent reflection and experience the Vision Weaving exhibit during the first 30 minutes of the evening. From there, we will circle up and settle in for a sound experience featuring the wind gong, drum, drone looping, vocalization and more.
Please bring copies of photos and other special items that you would like to add to the altar. These could be flowers, statues, handwritten notes, or anything else that brings you comfort and helps you drop into a state of remembrance.
Your photo copies can remain on the altar for the days to come, but the special items will be taken with you when we depart, filled with all of the love and good vibration that is created throughout the evening.
Tickets: $30
About the facilitators:
Chris is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound practitioner, and meditation teacher with over 15 years of experience in music, performance, and immersive sound. His work explores the intersection of harmony, consciousness, and the human experience, using voice, instruments, and intentional listening as tools for connection and presence. Drawing from a background in classical composition, live performance, meditation, and sound design, Chris creates experiences that invite people not simply to hear sound, but to feel it, participate in it, and build relationship with it.
Ryder is a heart-centered teacher who integrates multiple disciplines as she guides students through the breath and back home to their center. She enjoys teaching restorative and yin style yoga classes as well as sharing the magic of sound with those around her. As a trained gong facilitator and emerging energy practitioner, Ryder invites the receiver to tune into the pauses, the moments of silence, and the space between the sound/sensation. This approach is quite fitting for grief work, which often exists in void spaces, calling us to attune to what exists beneath the surface.
*Due to the tender nature of this event, we have a set amount of free tickets set aside for service exchange or for those who are in need of cost assistance.
